BMW Malaysia has added another variant to the G01 X3 line-up in Malaysia with the introduction of the xDrive30i M Sport. At RM328,800, the locally-assembled model costs RM15k more than the xDrive30i Luxury, and included in the price is the same five-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service and 24-month tyre warranty. However, the X3 xDrive30i M Sport is only limited to 120 units nationwide.
For the money, it gets equipped with a set of 20-inch double spoke style 699 M alloy wheels shod with run-flat tyres, M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and M Aerodynamic body kit. The front and rear bumpers are sportier – the former gets a more pronounced chin and integrated LED fog lamps, whereas the latter comes with a dark diffuser and dual, chromed exhaust exits.
Inside, the SUV gets M Sport leather steering wheel, M door sills, aluminium and pearl chrome cabin trimmings, as well as M foot pedals and black Vernasca leather upholstery with blue contrast stitching. Equipment-wise, it’s the same as the Luxury line, featuring the same 10.25-inch Touchscreen Navigation system Professional that’s hooked up to the iDrive Touch and 205 watt, 12-speaker HiFi system.
There are no changes to the powertrain as well. Under the bonnet rests the same B48 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, making 252 hp at 5,200 to 6,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,450 to 4,800 rpm. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic that channels drive to all four wheels, sending it from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds before topping out at 240 km/h. The average fuel consumption is 7.6 litres per 100 km.
Those expecting a spec bump on the safety side of things, well, unfortunately the kit list is identical as before. That means six airbags, two Isofix mounts on the outer rear seats, and the customary set of three-lettered acronyms (ABS, DSC and whatnot). Things like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and blind spot monitoring system are still unavailable.
The BMW X3 xDrive30i M Sport comes in four exterior colours – Alpine White, Carbon Black, Glacier Silver and Phytonic Blue.
